Walk Tonbridge Festival

13 September to 28 Sep 2025

A celebration of walking, Tonbridge, community and countryside.

Join us for the Walk Tonbridge Festival - two weeks of guided walks and community events that will raise vital funds for Sustain food and fuel bank, a local charity.

Guided Walks

Once more we have curated a selection of guided walks in and around Tonbridge for you to enjoy over the festival period.

New walks for 2025 include ‘Walking With Words’ - a poetry walk with Roundel Tonbridge Poetry followed by afternoon tea. We also have ‘Walking The Fosse’ a walking tour of mediaeval Tonbridge with Mark Andsell, and making her festival debut is Georgia Day! Georgia will be leading ‘Walk with Georgia’ - a family friendly social walk from Golden Green

Returning favourites include ‘Lost Pubs of South Tonbridge’ and ‘Lost Leisure of Tonbridge’ with historian Cathy Rishman and a walk through Tonbridge conservation area with Tom Freke of the Civic Society.

For the hikers, we will be leading the ‘Sunset Social’ from the Greyhound, Charcott and Mike Evans returns with a relaxed long distance hike to Penshurst!

All walks are being led by local experts that have volunteered their services so we can raise money for our charity partner Sustain.

The Fringe

Walk Tonbridge has always been more than just walking, its about history, countryside and community.

The Fringe celebrates these values with some additional fundraising events that showcase our towns creativity and community spirit.

This year we return to Tonbridge School with our photography exhibition ‘Tonbridge from above’ a different look at our town and countryside. Also returning is our ever popular pop up Orchard tea room which you’ll find in Hildenborough, and this year we have the fabulous Pam Mills giving her gripping true crime talk “The Retrial”.

The Marathon and Mini Marathon!

Supported by CooperBurnett Solicitors and in collaboration with our local pubs, the fifth Walk Tonbridge marathon welcomes brave walkers to choose between two sponsored walks!

Follow our epic 26.2 mile marathon around Tonbridge and its surrounding countryside, or test yourself on our shorter 5 mile route the ‘Mini Marathon’ a beautiful walk that includes Tonbridge Park and Haysden.

You can enter as an individual or a teams, so this is an opportunity to bring friends, family or colleagues together.

If walking the marathon you’ll begin your walk with coffee and a bacon roll at Tonbridge Baptist Church and finish at Tonbridge Old Fire Station, Tonbridge, where you can put your feet up for a drink with friends and family, and have the opportunity for a foot check with a trained podiatrist courtesy of Fit Feet Podiatry.

The Mini Marathon will start and finish at TOF’s, and also has the option of an off-road wheelchair/pushchair friendly alternative.

Our Charity Partner

Over the past few years the cost of living has soared, making food and fuel poverty a harsh reality, even here in Tonbridge.

Sustain food and fuel Bank is run by Tonbridge Baptist Church and provides emergency assistance for Tonbridge residents facing short term need.

Each week they provide an average of 100 emergency food parcels, helping families that may otherwise miss a meal or face a choice between feeding themselves or heating their home.

Our Supporters

The Walk Tonbridge Festival is a not for profit community event which has been made possible with the generosity and support of CooperBurnett solicitors, Absolute Creative Print, Hilden Park Chartered Accountants, Tonbridge Old Fire Station, Fit Feet Podiatry, Tonbridge School and Mr Ames Tea.

All of these local businesses have donated their time and resources so that we can provide Tonbridge with this celebration of walking community and countryside.
