Pillboxes of Penshurst - A guided hike with Clive Holden

Join author and historian Clive Holden for a gentle 6 mile hike, exploring beautiful Penshurst and the many pillboxes that populate this area.

Clive is a member of the Kent Defence Research group, part of the Kent Archaeology Society and has written ‘Fortress Maidstone’ as well as contributing to ‘Fortress Tonbridge’, two publications about the towns anti-invasion defences during World War 2. He also runs the popular Facebook group ‘The Pillbox appreciation society’.

During this walk Clive will point out the various pillboxes along the route whilst discussing their significance during the second world war.

This route will be on some uneven paths, there will also be some hills and stiles en-route. Please wear suitable footwear that you will be comfortable in for the entire walk.
